What we collect, and what we don't

The short version

Love Ljubljana is a curated city guide. It’s a static website: we don’t run ads, we don’t sell personal data, and you don’t need an account to read anything. We collect as little as possible — only what’s needed to keep the site reliable and to understand, in aggregate, which guides are useful.

This page explains what that means in practice, and the choices you have.

What we collect

If you contact us, we receive whatever you choose to send (for example your name, email address, and message) so we can reply.

Like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure may log basic request data — such as IP address, browser user-agent, and the URL requested — for security, abuse prevention, and reliability. These logs are short-lived operational records, not profiles.

Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and whether the guides are working. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data such as a truncated IP address and usage events on our behalf. We use this only to improve the guide; we don’t use it to advertise to you or to identify you personally.

You can opt out at any time: block or clear cookies in your browser, use private/incognito browsing, enable a tracker-blocking extension, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works exactly the same with analytics blocked.

Maps and third parties

When you open a map view, your browser requests map tiles and related assets from a map-tile provider. As part of normal web operation, those requests can include your IP address and basic request metadata, which the provider handles under its own privacy policy.

External links and images

Some pages link to third-party sites — official tourism pages, museums, venues, and Unsplash photographer credits. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we’re not responsible for their content or data practices. Photography is generally sourced from Unsplash, with credits available via each photo’s link where provided.
